How Kramnik plays

Kramnik beat Kasparov in 2000 without losing a game, largely by neutralising White with the Berlin Defence and winning with deep, patient positional play. He is one of the great masters of the Catalan and the Queen's Gambit, with a gift for finding the one plan that fits a position and a formidable endgame.

What to learn from Kramnik

Kramnik's games show how strong solidity can be. Watch how he uses the bishop pair, how he plays with and against isolated pawns, and how rarely his king is ever in danger.
