How Lasker plays

Lasker held the world title for 27 years, from 1894 to 1921, longer than anyone. He was a fighter and a psychologist: he chose moves that were awkward for the particular opponent, defended brilliantly, and was still winning top tournaments in his sixties.

What to learn from Lasker

Lasker shows that chess is a struggle, not a maths exam. Learn from his defence: how he keeps calm in bad positions and finds practical chances. The Lasker–Bauer game below is the original double bishop sacrifice.
